Best Beaches in Dubai (2026): What to Know and What to Bring

Dubai has more than 20 kilometres of coastline, and every stretch has its own personality. Some beaches are made for sport, some for families, some for sunset. This guide covers the most popular public beaches, what each one is best for, and what to bring so the day goes smoothly.

Kite Beach: best for sport and a social crowd

Kite Beach, near Umm Suqeim, is the beach for people who like to be active. Expect kitesurfing, paddleboarding, beach volleyball and a long row of food trucks and cafes along the edge. It gets busy on weekends, so go early if you want space to spread out.

JBR Beach: best for a lively day out

Jumeirah Beach Residence is the easy choice: public sand, restaurants and shops right behind you, and water sports on the shore. It's busy and social, and a good pick if you want everything within a short walk.

Al Mamzar Beach Park: best for families

Al Mamzar is a favourite for family weekends: sheltered swimming areas, picnic spots and playgrounds. It's a park-style beach, so there is an entry fee and set opening hours. Check the current details before you go.

Umm Suqeim and Sunset Beach: best for views and surf

These neighbouring beaches face the Burj Al Arab, which makes them a favourite for photos and sunsets. Umm Suqeim also has some of the most reliable waves along the coast, so it's popular with surfers.

Palm Jumeirah: best for a premium beach day

Many of the Palm's beaches are linked to hotels and beach clubs, so access often means a day pass. If you want a more polished setup with loungers and service, this is the area to look at.

What to bring to a Dubai beach

The sun, humidity and fine sand are the same everywhere, so the packing list barely changes:

  • A sand-free towel. A microfiber towel shakes clean instead of bringing half the beach home in your bag. Our adults beach towels are 180 x 90 cm and come with a travel pouch.
  • Something for the kids. A kids beach towel or a hooded beach poncho keeps little ones warm and covered straight out of the water.
  • Shade and sunscreen. Midday sun is strong for most of the year.
  • Water. More than you think you need.
  • A bag for wet gear. A quick-dry towel won't leave it soggy, but swimwear still will.
